The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the formation of Preliminary Development Project Profile (PDPP) to seek donors for building a deep-sea port at Sonadia. The committee did not approve the proposal of forming of the ‘Deep Sea Port Authority.’
“The committee decided to conduct a seismic survey to delineate Bangladesh’s maritime territory in the Bay of Bengal for submitting its legitimate claim to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to settle disputes with its neighbours,” Abdul Aziz, cabinet secretary told journalists after the meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat.
