Outlaw commander killed in gunfight

UNB, Chuadanga

A regional commander of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (ML-Janajuddho) was killed in a gunfight between his cohorts and law-enforcers at Nagdah village in Alamdanga upazila early on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Mozam alias Akash, 40, son of Muntaj Ali of Khadimpur village in the upazila. Akash was wanted in a number of criminal cases, including three of murder, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-6 and Alamdanga thana police in a drive at about 1am went near the Eidgah of Nagdah village where the outlawed members were holding a clandestine meeting. [Read more]
