A total of 30 leading human rights activists, economists, writers, lawyers, teachers, journalists and NGO activists in a statement yesterday demanded an independent enquiry into each of deaths of BDR personnel during the interrogation.
In the statement they referred that at least 6 BDR personnel have died in mysterious circumstance causing public anxiety and concern regarding the investigation process.
The use of torture in the interrogation process is
not only a violation of human rights, as Bangladesh is state party to the Convention Against Torture it is both illegal and punishable offence, the statement said. [Read more]
