Police arrested eight people, including former minister Matiur Rahman Nizami’s APS Shafiqul Islam, from Hariabari in Sathia upazila Sunday night.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Sathia thana said police detained Nizami’s former APS Shafiqul Islam on complaint from local people that he was buying votes for the four-party alliance candidate from Pabna-1 (Sathia) constituency.

Shafiqul Islam was being interrogated till filing of the report this morning, police said. [Read more]
