UK tightens visa rules for overseas students

The British Home Office has released new visa rules requiring international students to be fingerprinted and prove they have money to support themselves.
The ministry says international students must also be sponsored by licensed educational institutions.
Immigration and Border Minister Liam Byrne says the new criteria will help “crack down on bogus colleges.”
Universities wanting to recruit international students must apply for a license and would face a ban on foreign recruiting if they fail to report students to immigration officials who don’t enroll in classes or don’t attend classes. [Read more]
