Five members of a family were killed as a microbus plunged into the river Padma from the pontoon at Daulatdia ferry ghat early yesterday.
The victims were identified as Momtaj, wife of Jhumur Ali, son Nayan, sister Swapna, brother-in-law Laltu and sister-in-law Tagar.
They hailed from village Dighirpara under Amjhupi union in Meherpur district.
Jhumur’s another brother-in-law Zillur Rahman who was also in the microbus managed to swim ashore.
