Prices of both coarse and fine rice have marked sharp increase in the local market again.
During the last three days prices of all varieties of rice increased by Tk 50 to Tk 100 per maund in the wholesale markets. Besides, sugar and soyabean oil prices are showing upward trend.
On the other hand, supply of chickens has gone down in the wake of bird flu outbreak. Taking advantage of the situation, fishmongers have raised the prices of fish in the city’s kitchen markets.
Wholesalers said the rice prices were stable over the last couple of weeks after the government took various measures, including countrywide open market sale of rice. [Read more]
