In a latest development in the purge against ruling politicians of the yesteryear, the makeshift sessions court advanced to December 26 the resumption of trial of former premier Sheikh Hasina on an extortion charge.
For forwarding the trial proceedings, the relocated court of Dhaka metropolitan sessions judge Wednesday retracted its earlier order stalling for three months the case proceedings.
Judge M Azizul Haque, after receiving the certified copy of the December 13 Supreme Court orders that cleared the legal barrier to holding the trial, passed the fresh order today advancing the date of trial, a special Anti-Corruption Commission prosecutor told UNB this evening. [Read more]
