Quake jolts southeastern region

A moderate earthquake jolted the east and southeastern part of the country in the early hours of yesterday.
A Meteorological Department message yesterday said the tremor occurred at 01 hours 20 minutes and 47 seconds in the night. The magnitude of the tremor was 5.2 on the Richter scale.
The epicentre of the tremor was near Myanmar-India border region, 339.1 kilometres east-southeast from Dhaka Seismic Center at Agargaon, the message said.
Many panicked city dwellers to rush out of their houses in Chittagong and Sylhet areas when the tremor hit. [Read more]
