Violence erupted in Dhaka University yesterday following student protest against the alleged beating of a student by some army-men following altercation over watching a football match. Army personnel, however, regreted over the incident to the students and teachers representatives in a meeting later on.
At one stage police intervened and charged baton on the students. Fifty students were injured.
Students demanded withdrawal of the Army camp from the campus immediately otherwise they will not return to the hall. They called strike on the campus for one day today. [Read more]
