The Supreme Court yesterday stayed a High Court order granting imprisoned former Premier Sheikh Hasina bail in an extortion case.
Issuing the order, Chief Justice Mohammad Ruhul Amin also asked the “concerned parties”, including the High Court Division Bench, which granted her bail, to complete the hearing of Sheikh Hasina’s writ petition by August 14.
The orders automatically direct the Dhaka CMM to suspend proceedings of the case under the Emergency Power Rules (EPR) till disposal of the case in the higher Court
The Chief Justice delivered the orders after a full bench hearing in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the Government appeal against the High Court order. [Read more]
