Adviser for Food and Disaster Management Tapan Chowdhury yesterday said the government has adequate food stocks to face any eventuality due to the current floods in the country.
“There is no apprehension of any food crisis as we have about 10 lakh tonnes of foodgrains in stock at present and a huge quantity of those are being imported,” the adviser said at a crowded press briefing at his secretariat office here yesterday afternoon.
Tapan said the government has allout preparations for tackling the natural calamity from all sides even for the post- flood situation. [Read more]
