Immediate-past Prime Minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia paid Tk 33 lakh out of total Tk 300 crore the National Board of Revenue has bagged in tax so far under an amnesty offered to tax-dodgers to get their undisclosed money legalized. A senior NBR official confirmed on Tuesday evening that Khaleda Zia, earlier notified by the anti-graft body for submiting her wealth statement, declared her money yesterday by paying Tk 33 lakh as tax.
“She directly deposited the money with Bangladesh Bank and sent a copy of her statement to the NBR through courier service yesterday,” he said. [Read more]
