The government yesterday appealed to the Supreme Court seeking stay order against Monday’s High Court granting interim bail to Sheikh Hasina, stopping the proceedings of the case in the trial court under the Emergency Powers Rules (EPR)-2007. The full court hearing of the appeal is expected to be held today in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, as the Chamber Judge of the Supreme Court yesterday referred the petition to the Supreme Court, with utmost importance.
The Government moved the application seeking a stay order on Monday’s High Court orders as the government preferred leave-to-appeal to overturn the High Court orders. [Read more]
