Imprisoned Awami League president Sheikh Hasina yesterday filed a writ petition before the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, challenging the legality of placing the extortion case against her under the Emergency Power Rules.
A panel of Supreme Court lawyers led by Senior Advocate Barrister Shafique Ahmed moved the writ petition before a High Court Division Bench comprising Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman and Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury on behalf of the former Prime Minister.
Sheikh Hasina was arrested on July 16 on an extortion charge filed by a businessman Azam J Chowdhury. [Read more]
