Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN) - The payment amount to the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) is maintaining an upward trend due the expansion of Bangladesh’s trade relations with other member countries, officials said in the capital, Dhaka, on Monday. Bangladesh paid $423 million in a payment to the ACU, pushing down the foreign exchange reserve to $4.16 billion on Monday from $4.75 billion on the previous day, they said. The Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country’s central bank, has remitted the fund to the ACU headquarters in Tehran in line with the existing provision of the eight-member organization. “We are importing different consumer items and raw materials from the ACU member countries, particularly from India, to meet our growing demand for imports,” a BB senior official told AHN in Dhaka on Monday.
